These are walnuts just the way they come off of the tree. The shells can be cracked easily and the freshness is preserved best while the nut is in the shell. Fresh walnuts are quite a delicacy when eaten fresh while you are cracking them out of the shell.
These Walnuts are grown organically in Oregon.
