This rare Australian/New Zealand heirloom squash has a pale green colored skin and thick, deep dark orange flesh that is creamy and buttery tasting, not to mention very sweet. This squash is very similar to the Sweet Meat squash, but normally has a deeper orange flesh. Very beautiful and tasty at that! In New Zealand, this is almost the only winter squash you will find in the stores.
It makes a wonderful side dish at your dinner table any time of year! We like to peel the skin off, cut it up in medium-sized pieces, and put it in a covered baking dish with about an 1/8 cup of water added. Bake at 325-350 degrees for approx. 40 minutes until desired softness is acquired. Any leftovers can be made into “pumpkin” pie, muffins, cakes, soup, or our newest favorite, “pumpkin” butter.
This squash was grown by Azure Husbandry on the farm in Moro, Oregon. It has become one of our family favorites! We package this squash cut up in a 2-3 lb. piece, fresh for your order. It will keep in the fridge up to 2 weeks.
Note: We do our best to ship quality produce to Alaska and Hawaii, but due to unknown conditions at the barge lines, we cannot guarantee the quality on arrival.
Note: This item is a random weight item, prices vary. The price on your invoice may be higher. What is a random weight item? Random weights are calculated by the base weight of this product. If this product is 1-2 pounds, the base weight is 1 pound. The price displayed here would be for a 1 lb item only. The displayed price, divided by the base weight, is the price per pound. Since random weight item prices vary, and will vary for each customer, we are not able to display all prices. In this example, if you receive a 2 pound product, the price on your invoice will be higher.
