Our organic Valencia peanuts are smaller and naturally sweeter than other peanut varieties. Plus, they have three or four nuts per shell. Therefore, Valencia peanuts are the preferred choice for natural peanut butters, candy, and ice cream because they produce a high-quality, sweet-tasting product with less added sugar.
Since they are actually legumes, peanuts are higher in protein than other nuts. Peanuts contain oleic acid, the healthful fat found in olive oil and emphasized in the heart-healthy Mediterranean diet. They also provide good amounts of vitamin E, niacin, folate, and manganese. New research also shows may be as rich in antioxidants as many fruits.
A word of caution: Peanuts crops, in general, are susceptible to mold that can produce aflatoxin. So it’s very important to know where your peanuts are grown. Azure Market Valencia peanuts are sourced in the U.S., from eastern New Mexico and Texas. These areas offer ideal growing conditions, particularly for organics. The region’s high elevation, dry climate, sandy soil and short growing season combine for a better, safer environment than the Deep South. For that reason, many people limit their peanut consumption strictly to the organic Valencia variety.
