Café Altura Decaf Regular Roast Ground Coffee is produced from a seasonal selection of specialty-grade, high-quality, 100% Arabica coffee beans sourced from the Americas. A smooth, flavorful medium roast with notes of caramel and spice, this coffee is water-process decaffeinated, removing caffeine using water instead of chemical solvents, helping preserve the coffee's rich flavor and aroma.

Café Altura freshly roasts, grinds, and packs its coffee in nitrogen-flushed cans to help lock in peak flavor. Regular Roast makes a classic, well-rounded cup of decaf coffee.

About Cafe Altura:

Have you ever wondered what the first organic coffee company was? It’s Cafe Altura, of course! In 1980, Cafe Altura President & Co-founder Chris Shepherd was living in a California Anthroposophic community that centered around organic farming. There he met like-minded people, and travelers bringing stories of people around the globe working to make the world a better place through agriculture. He heard about the work of Walter Peters, a noted ornithologist (identifying over 200 species of birds!), and the host of the Smithsonian’s initial research into the benefits of shade-grown coffees. Walter is a true ‘mountain man’ who developed methods of nurturing coffee in an ecologically dynamic and sustainable manner. Chris grabbed the first opportunity to visit the Peters family’s 300-acre estate, Finca Irlanda. The estate is a training center for many of the world’s organic coffee farmers, demonstrating how to enrich the environment rather than damaging it. They teach the use of compost, integrated pest management, and stream preservation. The visit was successful and Chris partnered with the Peters family to be the first organic coffee company and the first importer of organic and biodynamic coffee into the United States in 1984.
