Rainier cherries were named after the landmark Mount Rainier in Washington State. Researchers at Washington State University crossed a Bing and a Van cherry cultivar and were thrilled with the result. The mother tree still lives and produces in the orchard not far from the University campus.
These cherries are one of the sweetest and juiciest cherries- best eaten on their own or in a fruit salad. They are also good for jams or preserves
