About Author RuthAnn Zimmerman:

RuthAnn Zimmerman and her husband Elvin were homesteading before anyone was calling it homesteading! They were raised in the Old Order Mennonite culture and remained in that community until early 2007. What the modern world today calls “homesteading” was just simply life to them. They purchased their 22 acres in northeast Iowa as newlyweds back in 2000 and today have 7 children. They never left the family-oriented, self-sufficient culture of their childhoods, even though they left their church community. They wanted to foster a relationship with Jesus rather than to just follow the rules and religion of their former church. RuthAnn’s lifetime of self-sufficient living has gained her wisdom and experience that she shares with the world through published writings and her blog. Besides her two books, The Heart of The Homestead and The Old Fashioned Approach to Childhood Chores, Ruth’s writing has appeared in several print and online publications, including Homesteaders of America, Homestead Mamas, and The Homegrown Sourcebook.
